Presenter: Lynda Povey

Venue: Please report to DCQE Staff Development Room, First Floor (Mercantile House) for registration.

This session will explore the value of Self-Employed Placements (SEPs) and look at how we can encourage our students to create their own futures whilst contributing to the UK economy and our standing in the world.

As academics are the enablers of change in the curriculum we will aim to address how we can build upon graduate creativity and flair that is known to exist but is currently under-exploited. Case studies from our own students and their SEP experiences will demonstrate how we can encourage controlled risk-taking, allow market testing and develop the entrepreneurial mind-set within a supported environment.

Can these opportunities lead to a new generation of graduate enterprises, creating much needed new and high value-added employment?"

Please note that a £15 charge will be levied against University of Portsmouth Departments where a member of their staff has booked but not attended, unless DCQE has been notified of their absence at least 48 hours prior to the time of the event.
